ͽ What are These Songs? ͼ
"In The End"
- By far Linkin Park's most recognized song, "In the End" released in 2000 as part of their album Hybrid Theory.
- The song reached #2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in March of 2002 with rapper and one of the band's main vocalists Mike Shindoa featuring a large part of the song and Chester Bennington (who initially did not like the song) voicing the lead.
- It was well received in the contemporary rock circles and is still considered to be on of the most iconic songs of the 2000's.
"Burning in the Skies"
- The song was announced to be the in the band's fourth studio album, A Thousand Suns.
- In an unusual break from their usual contemporary rock songs, "Burning in the Skies" was praised as 'an upbeat track that can also satisfy pop music fans'
- As of today, the song has over fifty million views on YouTube; however, with the scene shifting away from contemporary rock at the time, it did not recieve quite the welcome as the band's earlier songs.
"Numb"
- Released in 2003 (Meteora), "Numb" tackles the problems that 'unpopular' and 'outcast' young people may face as they have dreams and hopes, but don't always receive the support or encouragement they need to prosper.
- Critically acclaimed and sharing nearly equal amounts of recognition as "In the End", it topped the Billboard Alternative Songs for six weeks in 2003 and 2004 and ranked #95 for the top 100 tracks of the decade.
- The video recorded for the music video was actually done in the St. Vitus Cathedral and Johannes Kepler Grammar School in Prague.
